This elegant cluster of GEM transparent vesuvianites might just be my personal favorite of the entire deaccession auction session here, because it is so amazingly unique and surprising. I have seen this for years in the Meieran collection, in his drawers, and assumed it to be gem tourmaline! I had never seen it on his base (included) and....well, it is good to be surprised, and fun as well. This is the kind of specimen that has impact from realizing how ridiculously rare it is that it can produce such a surprise, and yet it also stands alone on its merits for a beautiful piece. In person, it is elegant and breathtaking. It is, amazingly, not repaired. It is complete all around. This has to be one of the finest known examples of the species from Pakistan, but again it stands on its own as a beautiful mineral specimen regardless. From the single crystal suite of the Meieran collection, assembled over the last 30 years of Pakistani and Afghani specimen production. It is impossible to value such a piece, from my point of view. All we can say is that the previous owner felt it was valued in the low five figures, and I see no reason to disagree.
