Item Description
Vesignieite is a very rare barium copper first discovered in Thuringia, Germany. It was named after Louis Vesignie a French mineral collector, and the former president of the Mineralogical Society of France. This piece hosts fine quality, micro green "crusts" of beautiful Vesignieite on indurated siltstone rock matrix from this big gold producing mine in Nevada. The Carlin Gold is an open pit project that extends of 2,000 m across and 500 m wide! The exact locality for this piece is the 5225 bench according to the label. Beautiful to view under high magnification, and we photographed it with a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens to illustrate the quality. The pieces comes with an old hand-written label from Scott Williams.
