Item Description

Vesignieite is a very rare barium copper first discovered in Thuringia, Germany. It was named after Louis Vesignie a French mineral collector, and the former president of the Mineralogical Society of France. This piece hosts olive green "crusts" of beautiful Vesignieite on host rock matrix from the historic mining region of Pribram. The exact locality for this piece is the Outcrop of the Posepny vein in Vrancice, which was active up until 1990. Beautiful to view under high magnification, and we photographed it with a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens to illustrate the quality. This is a nice example of this rare material from Pribram, and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
