Item Description

Vésigniéite is a rare barium copper vanadate species, named after the noted French mineral collector, Louis Vésignié who put together one of the great minerals collections in the world for its time. The species was first described from the Glücksstern Mine in Thuringia, Germany, but the best examples of Vésigniéite have been found at the historic Mashamba West Mine in DR Congo. This small cabinet specimen features a coverage of very dark greenish-black "rosette"-shaped groups of Vésigniéite with minor white Calcite rhombs on host rock matrix. It's one of the richest specimens of Vésigniéite that we've ever had to offer, and there are dozens of little "rosettes" on the piece. A must-have specimen for any fan of rarities or minerals from the Mashamba West Mine. Value is around $800-$1,000.
