Item Description

Teallite is a very rare sulfide mineral, consisting of tin and lead, that forms as thick foliated masses in several mines in the high mountains of Bolivia. It is extremely rare in specimen-grade material. This is actually not as ugly as most of them, for what it is worth, and really shines nicely in the case with the display face pointing out and thick masses that are very reflective to light. This rich sample from the Rock Currier collection's highly important Bolivian Suite is unusual in that it shows the "country rock" that hosts the vein of teallite, on both sides of the vein itself. It is therefore a very educational and informative specimen for those looking to study how these things form. From the Rock Currier Collection (being sold by Jewel Tunnel Imports, his company), with label as shown. Valued $800-1000.

This specimen is part of the 2022 Dallas Mineral Collecting Symposium benefit auction, with proceeds benefiting Mineralogical Record, Rocks & Minerals, Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, and mindat.org. Thanks to all of our participants!
