very rich Khaidarkanite (TYPE LOCALITY)

SUPERB example of Khaidarkanite, a very rare copper hydroxyhalide that was named in 1999. This showy and colorful small cabinet is from the TYPE LOCALITY - the Khaidarkan Sb-Hg deposit, Kyrgyzstan. The sprays of these lustrous, turquoise-blue needles form a veritable blanket over nearly half the matrix, and the richness far exceeds the individual sprays and small patches that you normally see. A striking, rich, and aesthetic example of this very rare species. This is a relatively large and rich sample, that even in the day would have cost $1000 if purchased from the normally very reasonable folks selling extras from the Fersman Museum expeditions here. From 1990s finds, and now almost never seen on the market. this is a major, significant, unusual species example in large display size.
