Item Description
Impressive and classic large compound pyrrhotite from the famous Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia. Intergrown, lustrous, layered, bronze-brown hexagonal crystals form this sculptural piece. Clustered siderite rhombs at the tip are a nice and colorful accent. The front is pristine, as is the sloped termination. The back is contacted, but there is only limited bruising on the sides. Ex Kay Robertson # 9525 and acquired in a trade with Bruce van Allen at the Tucson Show in 1982. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A choice large pyrrhotite from the 1970s or early 80s finds. Good timing. See the current Mineralogical Record Special Issue on Santa Eulalia. valued $1000-1500
