Item Description
An important, impressive and very large, old-time malachite specimen from the famed Copper Queen Mine (probably the Czar shaft). Nubby, forest-green, velvet malachite botryoids fill the sculptural vug in sintered gossan matrix. Overall a superb and complete piece for this size. Some minor periphery wear reveals the classic banded growth of the malachite underneath and shows why it was mostly cut for lapidary material! This imposing piece certainly dates to prior to World War I and is over 100 years old. Classic large material from the Dennis Mullane Bisbee Collection. Valued at $2000. 6.4 pounds or 2.9 kilos.
