Item Description
An incredibly hard to find specimen of "Jeffersite", which was at one time a valid species, but is now defined as a variety of Vermiculite from Brinton's Quarry in Chester County, Pennsylvania. It's one of the very few examples of the material that I can remember having to offer from the locality. Flattened radial groups comprising beautiful blue "needles" are lying against the matrix, creating a very attractive miniature sized display specimen. The green mineral is not identified. An attractive locality specimen of this obscure material that is virtually impossible to find on the market.
The piece originally was in the collection of geologist Allen V. Heyl, who obtained it in 1932, and later the piece was given to his good friend Rich Kosnar. It remained in the Kosnar family collection until very recently.
