Item Description

Varyrnenite is a very rare manganese beryllium phosphate which is only found in just over a dozen localities in the world. It gets its name from the former professor of mineralogy at the Technical High School in Helsinki Findland, Heikki Allen Vaeyrynen. Typically it occurs in opaque, often uncrystallized masses, but recent discoveries in Pakistan and Afghanistan have given collectors the finest examples of the species extant, with not only brilliant richly colored crystals, but GEM quality material to boot! This piece is from a VERY recent find (May of 2016) in Pakistan. I bought this one directly from a good source in Peshawar and I was thrilled to get my hands on it. The piece shows a vivid salmon orange-pink hue, but it's also lustrous, sharp and TRANSPARENT in areas! Sadly, it's not 100% complete, as the termination was contacted, but the fact that we not only have a good crystallized example of a super rare phosphate, but to have one with such amazing color and clarity is certainly noteworthy. I don't have another one of these to offer right now, I'm trying to get more, but if you've ever wanted a piece of this material, do not miss out.
