Vayrynenite (very rare) (10.90 carats) (ex David Burgess Collection)

An incredibly hard to find specimen of hot salmon pink colored Vayrynenite from Pakistan. Typically this manganese beryllium phosphate is found in uncrystallized, granular brownish examples in a handful of world localities, but the killer crystals from Pakistan are remarkable as they are complete / euhedral and the color is superb! This piece is a partial crystal of Vayrynenite with richly saturated color, good gemminess / translucency, and lovely lustrous striated prism faces, but unfortunately the termination is broken. It's still a fine quality example of a rare species that is honestly not seen in this style or color from anywhere else in the world right now. The old dealer label that accompanies the piece has it priced at $400 retail despite the damage, and this is going back several years. Specimen weight is 10.90 carats. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
