Item Description

A beautiful specimen of classic blue colored, crystallized Vauxite from the Type Locality for the species, the famous Siglo XX Mine at Llallagua. There are only about six or seven localities for Vauxite in the world, and the only CONFIRMED locality for the species in Bolivia is the Siglo XX Mine. We have photographed this specimen with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. The piece is crystallized all the way around, and good blue Vauxites are seldom seen on the market these days. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1628). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
