Item Description
Here we have a remarkable, very well crystallized, wonderful blue color, ridiculously rare specimen consisting of radiating crystal aggregates of Vauxite on minor matrix. I have photographed the crystals under the microcscope to show that they are truly terminated crystals and not just a blue mass. I must point out that these crystals of Vauxite show an almost electric blue color, nearly as good as I've seen for the species. It appears that the rich color is acutally due to a micro coating of transparent Quartz on top of the Vauxite. It is very difficult to obtain any specimens of this incredibly beautiful phosphate, but this color is really hard to find. This piece is from the type locality for this material which was originally discovered along the Contacto and San Jose veins in this mine and first described by Sam Gordon and Mark Bandy. Certainly more than a reference specimen, and a worthwhile Vauxite for any collector. Valued at $400.
