Item Description
Here we have a remarkable, very well crystallized, OUTSTANDING blue color, ridiculously rare specimen consisting of radiating crystal aggregates of Vauxite on minor matrix. I have photographed the crystals under the microscope to show that they are truly terminated crystals and not just a blue mass. The rich color is acutally due to a micro coating of transparent Quartz on top of the Vauxite. It is very difficult to obtain any specimens of this incredibly beautiful phosphate, but this color is hard to find. Certainly this is top color for the species with regard to intensity. This piece is from the type locality for this material which was originally discovered along the Contacto and San Jose veins in this mine and first described by Sam Gordon and Mark Bandy.
