Item Description

Here we have a remarkable, ridiculously rare, very well crystallized specimen consisting of radiating crystal aggregates of deep blue color Vauxite on a contrasting Wavellite and Marcasite/Pyrrhotite(?) matrix. It is very difficult to obtain any specimens of this incredibly beautiful phosphate, especially with such saturation of color and on matrix! This piece is from the type locality for Vauxite which was discovered along the Contacto and San Jose veins in this mine and was first described by Sam Gordon and Mark Bandy. It is so unbelievably rare to find specimens of Vauxite with such rich color like that are not coated by micro Quartz or have a dull grey overtone. A wonderful specimen of a mineral that is only found in one locality in the world!
