Item Description
A rarely seen example of Variscite with Wavellite from the Lichtenberg open cast at the Ronneburg Uranium deposit in Germany. The piece hosts beautiful patches of bright emerald green Variscite "balls", which play host to olive-green spherical groups of Wavellite on dark clay schist matrix. The crystals are best seen under magnification, and they are beautiful up close. It's remarkably difficult to find these specimens on the market, and to find both Variscite and Wavellite together on the same piece is rare in my experience with this material. A must have for any fan of phosphates or German minerals. Don't miss out. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974.
