Item Description
A beautiful, classic polished specimen of the classic Variscites from Fairfield, Utah. The central patch of pure green Variscite are not only impressive, but rare and fine quality for it's consistency and purity, with no cracks or breaks I can see. Gorgeous and fine quality. Associated tan Crandallite and greyish Wardite round out the trio of the most well-known species from the locality on this specimen. A really impressive, rare and desirable piece for the quality, superb consistency of color, and fine quality. Variscite is known from dozens of localities around the world, but the specimens from Utah are among the finest and most recognizable pieces of the species ever found. Specimen weight is 26.36 grams.
From the collection of the beloved mineral dealer and collector Rock H. Currier (1940-2015). Collection #RHC 7813. The piece was acquired in a trade in 2005 with the Santa Barbara Museum, and comes from the collection of Donok Pitts originally.

Rock Currier was the long-time owner of Jewel Tunnel Imports (named after the large open vugs in basalt in India which were often filled with crystals). Rock travelled the world in search of mineral specimens, and built and impressive collection over his lifetime. He was one of the more colorful and unforgettable figures in the mineral world.
