Item Description
These rich green Variscite specimens from the occurrence at Goias, Brazil do not get enough credit for their color. Most Variscite you'll see from places like Utah and Arkansas is a much light shade of green than the specimens from Goias. Throw in the fact that the Brazilian pieces have excellent crystallization, and you've some what are arguably the best examples of the species out there. Variscite is named for the German district of Variscia, which was the medieval name for modern-day Vogtland. The specimen hosts a pair of spherical groups of rich chrome green Variscite measuring up to 7 mm across sitting beautifully on grey Chalcedony matrix. The back of one of the spheres is contacted, but you can't see it when the piece is displayed.
