Item Description
These specimens end up labeled as coming from Itumbiara in Goias, but it's important to note that they are in fact from Ribeirao Cascalheira in the state of Mato Grosso. These gorgeous, rich green Variscites are some of the most strongly colored examples of the species from anywhere, and the fact that they're CRYSTALLIZED makes it all the more significant. Variscite is possibly best-known from Utah in massive uncrystallized examples, and these wonderful specimens from Ribeirao Cascalheira should be appreciated more for their fine crystallized quality. These are by no means common, and should be appreciated for their superb quality and rich color. This piece features a few lovely crystallized radiating "spheres" of Variscite measuring up to 5 mm on grey Chalcedony matrix. Very attractive up close with sparkling luster. A fine example of this beloved phosphate from Brazil.
