Item Description
An impressive miniature sized specimen featuring a notably large (1.3 cm) rich chrome green Variscite sphere on Chalcedony from the well-known occurrence at Itumbiara, Goiás, Brazil. The well-known Variscites from places like Utah and Arkansas might be more featured in various collections, but the Brazilian specimens deserve more attention for the fact that they have better color and excellent crystallization! As mentioned, the Variscite sphere on this specimen is rather large for the material, so don't miss out if you're a fan of attractive crystallized phosphates. The species is named for the German district of Variscia, which was the medieval name for modern-day Vogtland.
