Item Description

A classic bright green Variscite specimen from the well know occurrence at Dug Hill. The piece hosts dozens of small spherical aggregates of Variscite on contrasing host rock matrix. I have photographed the Variscites under the microscope to better show their quality. Variscite is known from dozens of localities around the world, but fine specimens from Dug Hill are amongst the better pieces from the United States. The species is named for the German district of Variscia, which was the medieval name for modern-day Vogtland.
