Item Description
When it comes to minerals of Arkansas, I think most people would agree that the most famous phosphate from the state is Wavellite, but Variscite is what I would call a close second. While the old classic Variscites from Utah are typically more popular on the market, I would make the argument that the Arkansas material doesn't get its due. Most of the Utah Variscites are massive / uncrystallized, and while the color is similar, the Arkansas is micro-crystallized / crystalline, so it's a bit more "refined" in terms of quality, and the color is often a more vibrant green hue than their counterparts from Utah. This piece features beautiful green sparkling, drusy, crystalline Variscite on host rock matrix. We've photographed the tiny Variscites with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. A beautiful example of this classic and eye-catching material.
