Item Description

The color in this stone is unique. It could be described as a light colored Tsavorite, since Vanadium is the chromophore that causes the color in those stones. Now Tsavorites are Grossular garnet, but I had this stone tested, and it came back as being a combination Andradite and Grossular together with Vanadium content. The color truly doesn't look quite like a Tsavorite or a Demantoid, but possibly somewhere in between. I purchased it from a friend who brough back a few tiny "chips" from Madagascar, so I know they're genuine. Almost all Beryl contains some kind of a chromaphore that causes the different color (i.e., iron, chromium, manganese etc) but you rarely see Beryls that carry a trace of Vanadium. Honestly, I have only this gem to offer, as I sold the other few in Tucson. This stone is virtually eye clean with an "Oval" cut. A great rare stone for collectors. Retail value is $300 per carat.
