Item Description
Vanadinites from one of the oldest localities for giant crystals of this species, Abenab in Namibia. A showy complete all-around cluster of large, sharp, tapered crystals to 4.1 cm is preferentially coated on one side with a second generation of small sparkly descloizite crystals. The vannies have a brown-orange color inside. As is typical for the locality, there is a yellow-brown coating of first generation microscopic descloizite crystals covering the vanadinites. Old, seldom available material in this combination quality, as this mine closed in 1948. The worlds largest vanadinites came from this mine, at 14 cm. Ex Rob Smith Collection, s noted Namibian specialist.
