Item Description

A showy and excellent large combination plate from the classic, but now hard to obtain, source of the San Carlos Mine of Chihuahua, Mexico. Lustrous, translucent, honey-brown, textbook hexagonal, vanadinite crystals, to about 1.5 cm, are festooned on the matrix and are dramatically encased or coated with glassy, colorless calcite rhombs. The bit of noted scattered bruising and perphery wear is certainly only a modet detraction. This is a RARE (especially the calcite), combination specimen in this quality and crystal form. These came out in the 1960s and 70s, with none since. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. Valued at $500-700.
