Item Description
An aesthetic and impressive, vanadinite on barite small cabinet from the major early 1990s finds at Mibladen. Highly lustrous, sharp, well-formed brick-red color, tabular, hexagonal crystals, are festooned on all sides of the sculptural, oxide-coated bladed barite matrix. The cluster at the top really gives this showy piece pizzazz with the 1.3 cm large crystal. Many of the crystals have bright flashes of gemmy yellow-orange color. Crystals reach 1.5 cm. There are crystals all-around, with those on back having a rich drusy coating of uncommon, sharp, colorless, calcite scalenohedrons. The scattered bruised smaller crystals are certainly a modest detraction. The bit of matrix brusing reveals the snow-white barite, which really adds contrast and pizzazz to the piece. These specimens deserve more attention for being some of the most impressive representations of the species extant. Valued at $600-800, for aesthetics, excellent quality of the crystals and rare calcite association. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!!
