Vanadinite (Trimingham Coll.)

Item Description

Lustrous, translucent, stubby, reddish-brown, hexagonal, vanadinite barrels to about 3 mm are festooned on the vuggy matrix on this very rich ore specimen from an obscure extinct underground mine near Tombstone. Specimens of this richness and quality are uncommon from here and this is a good one. Probably older material, but no proof. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and purchased from Peter Megaw at Tucson in 1987. A must for the species or locality collector.
