Item Description
Mineral specimens of any species are rare from this former Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Zn mine worked intermittently from 1908 to the early 1950s. Lustrous, translucent, brown barrels, to 3 mm, are festooned on the sculptural gossan matrix. I really like the way the largest crystals are concentrated along the crest of this very rich and showy two-sided piece. It displays well without aid. Rare and choice material collected by Robert Bartsch in 1966. Robert was a noted California field collector and collector. He passed away in 2014 and here is a link to a fine article written by his friend, Rock Currier: http://www.mindat.org/article.php/2158/Robert+Bartsch+++RIP++1939+to+2014. Value of such a rare and rich large piece? A must for the locality or species collector.
