This is a major Southwestern USA thumbnail specimen from the competition thumbnail collection of Bill and Sharon Panczner, assembled in the 1960s-1980s when this would have come out. It features a shockingly large and dramatic vanadinite crystal for the USA, that actually stands on its own as an important TN versus Moroccan material. And, the color and style is subtly different, slightly more orange-fire color than red, so it looks different than a Moroccan piece as well. This is far more rare, and more important a thumbnail, because of the locality - but it ALSO has quality! It is that combination that makes it a connoisseur level fine thumbnail. Hoppered crystals are a classic habit for Vanadinite from worldwide locations but rarely seen in such large size outside of Morocco, and therefore this single, complex thumbnail-sized crystal is outstanding.
