Item Description
Outside of Morocco, one rarely sees good matrix display specimens of Vanadinite, and the pieces from the Keban Mine in Turkey are somewhat reminiscent of their Moroccan cousins. This piece features sharp, well-formed, lustrous, dark orange-brown hexagonal crystals of Vanadinite measuring up to 5 mm sitting on matrix. The piece is in good condition overall, with only a few rough spots here and there. This piece probably dates to the 1930s mining period. It would make a great addition to any secondary ore mineral collection or a suite of rare / obscure locality specimens. From the collection of Gerry Morvell.
