Vanadinite on Quartz with Mottramite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Small, beautiful, bright yellow, hexagonal crystals of Vanadite measuring to a couple mm are associated with minor chocolate brown Mottramite on prismatic, slightly smoky colored, translucent Quartz crystal matrix from this classic locality in Arizona. The Vanadinites are small, but they are beautiful to view with magnification. The yellow color is rare in my experience with Vanadinites from this mine as well. Tiger specimens are incredibly desirable, beautiful and nearly impossible to find on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8238). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
