Vanadinite on Pyrolusite with Calcite

Small, red, hexagonal Vanadinite plates are sprinkled on a beautifully contrasting matrix of dark gray, botryoidal Pyrolusite from old Taouz finds in Morocco. Red-pink, translucent, 2 to 3 mm, hexagonal plates of Vanadinite exhibit a slightly frosted appearance and are scattered on 3 mm to 2 cm, charcoal gray, dull lustered botryoidal aggregates of Pyrolusite for perfect contrast. There are also several off-white, shimmering patches of Calcite from 3 to 5 mm distributed in and amongst the Vanadinite for extra aesthetic effect and diversity. An attractive small cabinet piece! Note that this is from a more remote and older location which produced less material compared to Mibladen which is still producing.
