Vanadinite on Baryte

Item Description

Scintillating, partially gemmy, dark red Vanadinite crystals adorn this showy piece from Mibladen, Morocco. This is likely from the famous finds of the early to mid 1990s, where many came out either on white bladed baryte, or on black bladed baryte - and this has a bit of both. These translucent to somewhat gemmy crystals range in size from 3 mm to 1.4 cm and richly encrust the display face of this piece and they are perched on pinkish Baryte blades, some coated by a charcoal gray manganese oxide coating on. Almost every Vanadinite crystal has some orange-red internal reflections that make them glow. The crystals are in great condition with only a few small areas of missing crystals and most are at the periphery. This would be a $2000-2500 specimen at any show booth.
