Vanadinite (old classic!) ex Ed David collection

Oriented in a mesmerizing jackstraw pattern, these brick-red Vanadinites have superb luster, sharp sharp, and average a full 1 cm in size. The Vanadinites actually have a well-developed hopper structure, which is one of the species' more desirable habits. It is entirely possible that the darker coloration may indicate that many of these crystals are the variety "Endlichite" in the series with Vanadinite - we have seen the label go both ways. Excellent aesthetics, and impressive provenance being out of the Ed David Collection. From Ed David (who was in real life Nixon's Presidential Science Advisor among other roles!), that is a good provenance - his number remains on the backside, in his characteristic marker-on-whiteout paint. Valued $1500-2000, this is a rare old treasure that is so often unappreciated in this day when Moroccan material is very common - but so different in style. For Mexico, this is hard to beat!
