Vanadinite (fine quality)

Vanadinite is a well-known secondary lead chlorovanadate mineral, and its famed is due to the fact that superb specimens that have been found at Mibladen over the last few decades. Some people may not realize that Vanadinite would be fairly under-represented on the market were it not for the specimens from Mibladen. It's inarguable that the finest Vanadinites from this area are certainly the pinnacle for the species, for size, color and quality. This piece is a gorgeous miniature sized specimen featuring several good-sized, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, hexagonal crystals measuring up to 2.7 cm across, showing a strong dark red hue on one side, but ranges to more of a tan-beige color on the other side. It's a very showy and aesthetic specimen, with no major damage that I can find with the naked eye, and almost a competition level miniature. There is a slight amount of skeletal/"hoppered" growth on the prism faces, a sign that the crystals grew fairly quickly and couldn't completely form smooth euhedral faces. Fine quality, showy and a great example of this classic material. Valued $3,000.
