Vanadinite (excellent crystals)

Vanadinite is a mineral species that is known by virtually all mineral collectors. With that said, it's also one of those species that is predominantly best-known from a single world locality. As a matter of fact, were it not for the pieces from Mibladen, Vanadinite would be fairly under-represented on the world stage, especially in terms of fine quality display specimens. The world-class Vanadinite specimens from this area have been the pinnacle for the species for decades. This gorgeous large miniature / small cabinet sized specimen features an aesthetic group of fine quality, beautiful red color, sharp, lustrous, thick, tabular hexagonal crystals, free of matrix. The largest crystal measures 1.6 cm. The piece is fully crystallized on all sides, and shows a captivating mixture of the rich red color, and tan pocket clay for a wonderful contrast. Looking closely I can't find any major damage of note, but I can see some small imperfections with a loupe. Three-dimensional crystal groups like this are certainly not nearly as common to find on the market as they have been in years past, and as I said before, the best Vanadinites in the world undoubtedly come from Mibladen.
