Vanadinite (excellent crystals)

There are certain minerals in the world that are almost exclusively associated with a single locality. The famous Vanadinites from around Mibladen are the finest examples of the species ever found. They are the largest, finest and most colorful crystals in the world, and I'm still amazed/impressed whenever I see a good one. Honestly, if it wasn't for Mibladen, Vanadinite wouldn't have much representation in the mineral world, as most crystals from other world localities are typically found in much smaller examples. This particular specimen was found about 10 years ago and is a wonderful miniature featuring several superb quality, highly lustrous, rich red color, razor-sharp, thick hexagonal crystals along with smaller accessory Vanadinites on the bottom, and no matrix. The underside of the piece shows a bit of skeletal/hoppered growth, but the crystals on top are incredibly smooth, distinct and well-formed. I love the orientation and arrangement of the crystals, as it almost reminds me of a blocky red beehive. I truly can't find any damage of note, and I have to stress that the luster on these crystals is truly glistening! A beautiful, top notch example of these world-famous Vanadinites.
