Item Description

Here we have a classic specimen from the famous Old Yuma Mine located just northwest of Tucson (if you draw an imaginary line following Orange Grove Road west of I-10, it's almost a straight line to the Old Yuma). This famous locality is best known for its excellent Vanadinites, arguably the best from any locality in the Western Hemisphere (along with the Pure Potential Mine). While the Vanadinites from Mibladen, Morocco will be the standard for the species, the best crystals from the Old Yuma are just as fine in my mind. This piece is a lovely specimen from the Old Yuma featuring well-formed, prismatic orange-red colored, lustrous hexagonal crystals of Vanadinite measuring up to 6 mm across on matrix. The crystals look good up close and we've provided some macro photos to better show off the quality.
