Item Description

RARE and rich vanadinite and calcite from an obscure Namibia Pb-Zn mine that operated from the 1930s to 1992. Highly lustrous rust-red vanadinite prisms, to 1.2 cm, are festooned on all sides of the vuggy, sculptural, mounded calcite with matrix specimen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1073 and acquired from Scott Williams in the 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Very rich, rare and showy old-time combination material.
