Vanadinite

Item Description

Highly lustrous, striking brick-red, vanadinite prisms are aesthetically festooned on both sides of the matrix on this fine and showy specimen from Mibladen. The sharp, hexagonal crystals are partially gemmy and reach 1.8 cm. I like the way that the large crystals are concentrated along the crest of this piece. The crystals on the back side have an oxide coating. Two of the larger prisms on the top have modest bruising and periphery wear on one end is noted. This is classic, desirable material from the recent finds at this famous locale.
