Vanadinite is largely connected to Mibladen, Morocco, where the finest pieces of the species ever seen have been coming out for 50 years. With that said, the Taouz Vanadinites are quite different from their Mibladen cousins, and are certainly some of the most distinctive examples of the species in the world. The contrast of the strong red colored crystals against the dark grey-black manganese / iron oxide matrix makes for some truly eye-catching specimens. This piece hosts sharp, lustrous, hexagonal, orange-red colored crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm sitting on almost somewhat bubbly groups of manganese or iron oxide matrix. The crystals show slight skeletal / negative faces on the prisms for a nice touch. Very good condition, with no major damage, only a few minor imperfections I can see. A very good display specimen of this classic material dating back 40 years.
