Taouz Vanadinites are quite different from their Mibladen cousins, and are certainly some of the most distinctive examples of the species in the world. The contrast of the strong red colored crystals against the manganese / iron oxide matrix makes for some truly eye-catching specimens. This piece hosts sharp, lustrous, hexagonal, orange-red colored crystals measuring up to 9 mm across sitting on almost arborescent groups of grey-black manganese or iron oxide matrix. Very good condition, with no major damage, only a few minor imperfections I can see. A very good representation of this classic material dating back 30-40 years. Valued at $950. From the collection of Richard "Dick" Philip Hauck formerly of Bloomfield, New Jersey and now a resident of Franklin, New Jersey. Dick is an avid collector of minerals, books, and mining memorabilia, along with being an accomplished author in the mineral world. Arguably, his greatest claim to fame is being the co-founder of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ. Dick purchased the land on which the Sterling Hill Mine resides in 1988, and the museum has been running strong since.
