Item Description

The Kaokoveld Vanadanites have an asparagus-green coating and an almost velvety texture. These have been known to be coated by Mottramite or Mimetite, so this unusual color is not a surprise. The prism faces on the presentation side have a thicker coating than usual, creating an almost bark-like texture. The broken bottom, from where is was contacted, gives a hint to the glassy interior, and the back side was clearly contacted. Overall, it is a fine thumbnail for rarity. These single crystals of Vanadinite are most unusual for Namibia.
