Item Description

Valentinite is a rare antimony oxide species, and good crystals are not found very often from any world locality. In the early 2000s, the Colavi Mine produced some excellent examples of the species, which are not only fine quality for Bolivia (only the San Jose Mine specimens are better), but almost anywhere in the world. This particular piece is a great example of Valentinite (pronounced: Vah-LEN-tin-ite), featuring a predominant, sharp, lustrous, silvery-white prismatic crystal measuring 8 mm with additional Valentinites sitting on matrix. The fact that the largest crystal is nearly a full centimeter is great for this locality and the species. A great chance to have a matrix specimen of a very hard to find mineral from an historic locality in Bolivia. Species collectors out there should jump on this one, but worldwide collectors should not pass it up either, as it's a good overall example of a mineral that is not often found in display quality specimens. Don't miss out, nothing has been found in about 20 years, and I doubt there will be any more at this point.
