Valentinite (beautiful color - 2012 find)

Here we have a fine quality and rarely seen example of these beautiful Valentinites from a very small isolated discovery in April-early May, 2012 from metallic deposits near the famous Xikuangshan fields. Valentinite is typically seen in white/colorless/grey crystals, so for sheer beauty, these gorgeous radial groups of acicular Valentinite crystals stand out dramatically. They are quite different from the sort of crystals you usually see both from the standpoint of the "burst"-like habit and the gorgeous yellow color. They almost have a semi-velvety luster to them as well. To have a rich coverage of gorgeous yellow crystals like this is exceptionally hard to find, especially in a showy matrix display specimen. The largest "spray" or "ball" on this piece measures 6 mm across, and they are sitting on dark grey sparkling Quartz crystals on matrix. Most of the groups are undamaged as you can see from the close-up photos. VERY FEW were available, and it's doubtful that more will be found. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
