Valentinite (2012 find)

Item Description

Valentinite is a moderately common secondary Sb-oxide formed from the oxidation of hydrothermal antimony-bearing veins. Common associates are stibnite, native antimony, stibiconite, cervantite, kermesite and tetrahedrite. Striking radial sprays, to 1.0 cm, of glassy, yellow lathes are attractively clustered at the top and are scattered on the front and back of the matrix plate. Yellow is a rare color, as most specimens are colorless, white or gray. Excellent material from a 2012 find from this famous antimony ore producing district (some of the world's finest stibnites).
