Striking, V-twinned calcite crystals of this combination quality are RARE from this well-known extinct basalt quarry in Mumbai (closed due to population growth). The glassy, translucent, stout, trigonal crystals have super sculptural form and are dramatically, preferentially and richly accented on the back side with spherical clusters of lustrous, grayish-brown gyrolite blades. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The long arm has a cleaved, but mostly healed termination face. Older and very choice material from the 1970s or 80s from the Cynthia Payne Calcite Collection. Faint pink fluorescence. Valued at $395 by the former dealer.
