Item Description
These striking and beautiful, V-twinned, butterfly calcites are certainly amongst the most famous single calcite finds of the modern era in China, and came out around 2000. They were very expensive at that time and still are and disappeared quickly. A 1.6 cm from tip to tip, glassy, thick, hematite-tinted, V-twin is the stunning focal point of this aesthetic and excellent specimen. The top of the sculptural matrix is densely covered with both hematite-tinted calcite spikes and scintillating, jewel-like, colorless spikes, along with larger crystals. Very nearly pristine, a super-trivial bit of termination wear on one tip of the large V-twin is barely noticeable and is certainly not a detraction. Specimens of this quality only come from recycled advanced collections. Valued at $850-1000.
