Item Description
Outstanding, lustrous, deep-green Uvarovite crystals to 2 mm are distributed nicely across this exceptionally large, quality specimen from Russia. This is a very large and rich example, of a size seldom seen for sale today. These plates of garnet were mostly cut up and made into sparkling pieces of jewelry for lapidary use! Large plates like this, on heavy chromite matrix, remain few and from the heyday here of the 1990s. Out of the impressive and expansive collection of Dr. Robert J. Lauf, this is a PUBLISHED and Type Locality specimen, both of which are of particular interest to collectors. Note card, book signed by author, and any labels included. It is a fine piece of museum display size.
