Item Description

There are many localities for Uvarovite around the world, but this piece is from a very obscure spot in southern California. It's labeled as coming from the "Uvarovite Mine" in the NW Calico Mountains, which is most likely a reference to the Unnamed chromium occurrence mentioned in the 1996 book, Minerals of California by Murdoch and Webb. With that said, this piece is simply a reference specimen, as there are not discernible crystals faces to be seen, just intense chrome green colored patches of massive Uvarovite on host rock matrix, but what really matters here is that this is the FIRST specimen of Uvarovite from San Bernardino County that we've ever had to offer, so if you collect Garnets, minerals of California or strange / oddball locality specimens, don't miss out on this one, as we doubt we'll have another anytime soon.
